Julia Schopick's blog in memory of her husband

Julia writes
When an email from Vera Sharav alerted me to the fact that Dr. Marcia Angell, had just written a book review for the New York Review of Books, I was eager to read it -- AND, after reading it, I immediately decided that I wanted to print it, in its entirety, on HonestMedicine.com
Marcia Angell is former editor of the New England Journal of Medicine,Currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Angell is the author of the book,
The Truth About Drug Companies: How They Deceive Us and What to Do About It,
as well as, of several articles, including
“Is Academic Medicine For Sale?,” published in the New England Journal of Medicine, May, 2000.
In the article, Dr. Angell reviews these three books. But her article is far more than just a book review!
1) Side Effects: A Prosecutor, a Whistleblower, and a Bestselling Antidepressant on Trial -- by Alison Bass,
2) Our Daily Meds: How the Pharmaceutical Companies Transformed Themselves into Slick Marketing Machines and Hooked the Nation on Prescription Drugs -- by Melody Petersen, Sarah Crichton/Farrar, Straus and Giroux,
3) Shyness: How Normal Behavior Became a Sickness -- by Christopher Lane,

Seaneen Molloy’s blog: The Secret Life of a Manic Depressive -
Adapted for a play by Louise Ramsden and broadcast on BBC radio 4 May 8 2009

Seaneen's problems appear to have started with the death of her father. Her blog started as a sort of open letter to her father who was an alcoholic. Seaneen believed he would one day recover.
A death that occurs when a relationship is unresolved can lbe more difficult and lead to more confused and longer lasting confusion and distress than the loss a loved one in a fulfilled relationship.
It can be likened to being on the opposite side of a river to the person you need to be close to, you are about to walk on to that bridge and meet but you are prevented by the death.
Dr Bob Johnson believes if we can sort out our childhood and bereavement traumas, we can recover from most of our mental distress. Please see Bob on a You Tube video linked to the left menu FILMS heading
More information about Dr Bob Johnson who is a psychiatrist working without the use of medication. Footage from the video taken at the APRIL 2008 conference with Bob and others in the Coming Off Medicines session, will soon be available.
